THEATER STAGE TECHNICIAN DESCRIPTION AND PLAYS CONTRIBUTIONS

  • As a stage technician for the Austin Arts Center (AAC), my responsibilities are focused on set design, set construction, lights operation, lights manipulation, record any of the theater’s modifications, operate stage equipment, sound systems and scene shop equipment. All these roles allow the theater stage to be ready for any upcoming play or performance. The following are the plays in which I contributed as a Stage Technician.

  • The responsibilities for this play consisted on the elaboration of hanging doors that would simulate the effect of a transition within a palace and an outside world. It also involved the construction of movable doors that after aligned together, it would permit the actors to change on stage to create the illusion of a magical transformation. Also the calibration of lights on set, creation of new lights patterns for dramatical effect and modification of chandeliers to create the atmosphere of a royal banquet.

  • The elaboration of a backstage stage, placing the performance outside of its common setting. This required the meticulous measurement of the available space to set the props and allocate all the actors. The play also took place during an industrial revolution, so the environment exemplified the life of the exploited labor class who got exploited by their supervisors.

  • Simple organization of the theater stage to allocate the performer in a dancing floor, allowing the actors to take the audience into a world of fantasy and JOY!

  • Focused on the creation of a machine that would create global peace in the world, Futurity is a play that required the construction of a big platform on stage where all actors could safely step on to represent their struggle against the wealthy percentage of the population who intend to use the device of peace to generate a profit. The stage needed the implementation of multiple movable pieces that would create the illusion of the characters moving such pieces to represent the activation and implementation of the peace machine within society.
